Graphs in deformation quantization
Abstract
Deformation quantization is a mathematical framework that formulates the process of quantizing a classical mechanical system into a quantum mechanical one. In this framework, a classical mechanical system is described by a Poisson bivector, while a quantum mechanical system is characterized by a "star product," which is a formal deformation of the multiplication of smooth functions. In this talk, I will introduce Kontsevich's graphical construction of star products and the underlying mathematical structures.

什麼是逆散射變換?
Abstract
本演講為可積系統中 逆散射變換 (Inverse Scattering Transform, IST)的入門介紹。 逆散射變換是一種用來求解某些非線性偏微分方程的分析方法,可視為傅立葉轉換的非線性類比。該方法最早由 Gardner、Greene、Kruskal 與 Miura 提出,用以處理 Korteweg–de Vries(KdV)方程,隨後很快推廣至非線性薛丁格方程、sine-Gordon 方程以及 Toda 晶格方程等可積模型。在本次演講中,我將介紹 KdV 方程的逆散射變換,若時間許可的話,也會談到 IST 與 Riemann–Hilbert 問題之間的關聯。

對稱與破缺
Abstract
我們先欣賞大千世界中美妙的對稱模式(pattern),從雪花晶體,到生物外觀,再到藝術作品。隨後,我們欣賞對稱性的「破缺」(breaking)所帶來的複雜模式,例如動物花紋與移動方式,並說明破缺如何生成可觀察的穩定模式。接著,我聚焦於螺旋模式(spiral pattern),它出現在心臟跳動跟化學反應中,能透過自動機與曲率流的方法進行描述。最後,我會介紹 Alan Turing 的模式生成(pattern formation)理論,他的理論一言以蔽之,就是因為矩陣乘法「不可交換」,我們的世界才如此繽紛多彩。

面對疾病傳播、生物入侵與族群競爭等現象時,我們常會問:這些複雜的自然現象是否存在某些可被理解的規律或機制?數學模型可以幫助回答這些問題。本演講將以疾病擴散、物種擴張與生物系統中的動態行為為例,介紹數學如何將現實世界中的現象轉化為可以分析的模型,並進一步幫助我們理解數學不只是抽象的符號與計算工具,更是一種理解生命現象與世界變化的重要語言。

Numerical Ranges of Finite Matrices
Abstract
數值域(numerical range)的研究可追溯至 1918–1919 年,當時 Toeplitz 與 Hausdorff 證明了希爾伯特空間上有界算子的數值域必為複數平面中的凸集合。此一經典結果開啟了數值域理論的發展,並奠定其在算子理論與泛函分析中的重要地位。
後續研究顯示,算子的代數與分析性質往往可反映在其數值域的幾何與拓樸結構上;反之,透過觀察數值域的幾何形狀與邊界特徵,也能深入理解算子的內在性質。此一雙向關係促成了豐富且系統性的理論發展,並廣泛應用於算子理論、泛函分析、矩陣分析與不等式研究等領域。
我們將介紹有限維矩陣數值域的定義與基本性質,並探討 2 階與 3 階矩陣數值域的典型幾何形狀。最後,將簡要介紹我們近期在此領域的一些研究成果。
